Want a work in progress shot of my dirty great cult?
This batch is abooooout fifty percent done. Lots of cheques, skin work and details to go. I start base up, in case ya didn't know, so I can use big brushes without worrying about dirtying the models legs. Feet are usually last to finish.
And here is the rest of their team so far. I hate having doubles, so I just head and weapon swapped a whole bunch with daemonette and millitia bits. Arrr.
I had planned to do much more with converting the whole lot, but this is part of my 'just get it done' campaign. There is nothing stopping me stripping and reworking things later!
The bases are the new citadel 32mm bases. They are a bit tall and chunky for my liking- plus here they cost 70c each, which is fucking ridiculous. But GW is pretty much an evil cult.
Once these are used up and I going back to the normal 30mm bulk buy bases for my 40k moderns.
Good stuff. I must be the only person in the whole world who does the base first! I just don't understand how people can dry-brush bases without ruining all of the careful painting on the mini itself...

Only *other* person!

I always do the base right on first too. tha tway I can get away with the drybrushes and then move on to the fun part without fearing to ruin anything.
DeleteThat's 3 of us now.
I like your white and green colour scheme btw, I recently used that on marauder venators and like it a lot.
PS : I totally misread that blog title...
Misread? Well, your a total cult then.
DeleteImpressive work! The Final Cu(l)t, I´d say... :) Cheers!
ReplyDeleteYou win PUN OF THE DAY! Make yourself a sandwich as a reward.
DeleteThat's 4 of us! The very last thing I do is add grass tufts etc. the last few were pinned to pre painted (by me) bases so that may be the way of the future for this chap!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous looking cult, love the grime and muted colours.
ReplyDeleteI must admit the new GW bases threw me for a loop, I was about to start work on some of my 40k miniatures at the behest of a friend who would like me to start playing again.
After mulling it over for an age I've decided I'm still going to stick to my various sizes of lipped base as I'd originally planned.
I don't do the base first because I like the final feeling of completion when the vase is done.
ReplyDeleteBut also it never occurred to me as as I am a dunce...
For me, running a black poska around the outside and spray varnishing is my last touch. Satisfying.
DeleteNah bases last for me as my standards are seen at 3 feet and well you just can't see the beauty of the drybrushed and flocked toenails. Mind you I have now figured out why everyone asks me why all my minis are hobbits with mould problems.
ReplyDeleteI loved lipped bases for 40k because it says 'fuck you GW, I am going my own way".
